Notarial services, including witnessing, certifying and issuing legal documents

The Consul-General in Papeete does not provide notarial services (e.g. witnessing signatures, certifying true copies or originals etc). Consider checking with your relevant Australian authority whether there are local options such as a foreign citizen who holds a particular title or occupation (e.g. notary public, lawyer, police officer, etc) who may be accepted as a witness to your documents.

Please also check information on marrying in French Polynesia should you require a Certificat de Coutume from the Australian Consulate-General in Papeete. The Australian Consulate-General in Papeete can provide a letter that satisfies the “Certificat de Coutume” requirement, but only after a certificate of no impediment to marriage has been issued and presented to us either as an original or by email.
